El baloncesto celebra a las personas mayores con una barrida de Pacific Union

Los equipos de baloncesto femenino y masculino de Park University Gilbert terminaron la temporada regular 2023-24 con cómodas victorias sobre los equipos de Pacific Union que no ganaron en la temporada. Las mujeres ganaron 92-41, mientras que los hombres ganaron 90-66 en Arizona Athletic Grounds en Mesa, Arizona.

Las mujeres terminan 15-12, 13-7 en Cal Pac y son la cuarta cabeza de serie en el torneo de conferencia. Los hombres terminan con el mayor número de victorias en la historia del programa, terminando la temporada 12-16 con una marca de 8-12 en juegos de conferencia, perdiendo los playoffs por un juego.

Con cinco jugadoras en cifras dobles, las Buccaneer lograron una victoria de 51 puntos sobre las Pioneers.

Los seniors de los Buccaneer fueron celebrados antes del concurso y luego esos seniors salieron y celebraron en la cancha mientras Faith Watkins (17 puntos), Jazmyne Jenkins (12 puntos, 10 rebotes) y Madison Chappell (11 puntos, 12 rebotes) cada uno tuvieron un gran noche en su último partido en casa como Buccaneer. Tanto Jenkins como Chappell consiguieron el séptimo doble-doble de sus carreras.

Jayla Reliford tuvo su segunda noche consecutiva de asistencia de dos dígitos al repartir 10 monedas de diez centavos.

Los Bucs dispararon un llamativo 51 por ciento desde el campo durante el juego y mantuvieron a los Pioneers en solo el 23 por ciento durante el juego y los mantuvieron en solo 13 puntos en la segunda mitad.

Las mujeres no se prepararán para la postemporada ya que regresan al norte de California para el Campeonato de la Conferencia del Pacífico de California en UC Merced a partir del próximo sábado 2 de marzo, donde abrirán con el quinto favorito Simpson, contra quien perdieron dos veces esta temporada.

Los hombres de los Buccaneer terminaron su mejor temporada en su corta historia con una victoria por 24 puntos sobre los Pioneers.

Liderados por un doble-doble de Caleb Ivy , los Bucs nunca estuvieron atrás en este concurso y lideraron hasta por 25 puntos en el concurso.

Senior LC Ballard , el máximo anotador de todos los tiempos de los Bucs en el lado masculino terminó con 18 puntos. Evan Hoosier (12) y DJ Frye (10) también anotaron cifras dobles. Ballard termina su carrera de dos años en Gilbert con 719 puntos en 56 partidos.

Aidan Moreno terminó a un punto de lograr un doble-doble con nueve puntos y 12 rebotes.

El otro senior, Kylan Shorts , empató en el liderato del equipo con Ivy con cinco asistencias y sumó siete puntos. Shorts, es el único jugador que jugó los cuatro años en Park en los breves cinco años de historia del programa.

Los Buccaneers terminaron con su total de victorias más alto con 12. La mayor cantidad de victorias en juegos de conferencia (8) y su resultado más alto en juegos de conferencia (7º ⁾ .

Basketball Celebrates Seniors with Sweep of Pacific Union

The Park University Gilbert women's and men's basketball teams finished out the 2023-24 regular season with comfortable wins over Pacific Union teams who were both winless on the season. The women won 92-41, while the men won 90-66 at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz..

The women finish 15-12, 13-7 in Cal Pac play and are the number four seed in the conference tournament. The men finish with the highest number of wins in program history, finishing the season 12-16 with a 8-12 mark in conference play, missing out on the playoffs by one game.

Women's Basketball – Park Gilbert 92, Pacific Union 41

With five players in double figures, the Buccaneer women cruised to a 51-point win over the Pioneers.

The Buccaneer seniors were celebrated before the contest and then those seniors went out and celebrated on the floor as Faith Watkins (17 points), Jazmyne Jenkins (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Madison Chappell (11 points, 12 rebounds) each had a big night in their final home game as a Buccaneer. Both Jenkins and Chappell collected their seventh double-double of their careers.

Jayla Reliford had her second consecutive double digit assist night as she dished out 10 dimes.

The Bucs shot a gaudy 51 percent from the floor for the game and held the Pioneers to just 23 percent for the game and held them to just 13 second half points.

The women will not prepare for the postseason as they return to northern California for the California Pacific Conference Championships at UC Merced starting next Saturday, March 2 where they will open with the five seed Simpson, who they lost to twice this season.

Men's Basketball – Park Gilbert 90, Pacific Union 66

The Buccaneer men finished its best season in its short history with a 24-point win over the Pioneers.

Led by a Caleb Ivy double-double, the Bucs never trailed in this contest and led by as many as 25 points in the contest.

Senior LC Ballard, the Bucs all-time leading scorer on the men's side finished with 18 points. Evan Hoosier (12) and DJ Frye (10) also scored in the double figures. Ballard finishes his two-year career in Gilbert with 719 points in 56 games.

Aidan Moreno finished one point short of a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

The other senior, Kylan Shorts, tied for the team lead with Ivy with five assists and he added seven points. Shorts, is the only player to play all four years at Park in the programs short five-year history.

The Buccaneers finished with their highest win total with 12. The most wins in conference play (8) and its highest finish in conference play (7^th).
